Clinical Pathology Analytic testing at AMA Laboratory uses state-of-the-art instruments, offering the latest in modern technology. The assays are based on the most sensitive and specific tests currently available. The chemistry section has an automated system that features a sample manager that continuously transfers specimen tubes into online chemistry and immunochemistry instruments, improving workflow and turn-around time. Similarly, the hematology section has an automated sampling system, stainer and computer imaging of peripheral blood smears that allow for accurate and rapid hematology testing. We employ the latest in molecular diagnostic testing, using the latest DNA and RNA amplification system, real-time PCR, and automated nucleic acid extraction from patient specimens. Our microbiology section offers the most sophisticated instrumentation for the identification of bacterial organisms and determination of antibiotic susceptibilities or sensitivities. This enables clinicians to prescribe the most appropriate antibiotics for their patients. These cutting edge technologies exemplify AMA Laboratory’s commitment to accurate diagnostic testing and excellent patient care.
